No More No Less

Multimedia Installation with a Virtual Experience

No More No Less

2018

Web VR, video with sounds, projection, handmade props

10*4*4 ft. (height x length x width)

This work is inspired by one of Shakespeare's four great tragedies, King Lear, with a particular focus on the storm scene. It uses various media to portray four characters and explore their dynamic relationships between them. From left to right, the installation features rolling scripts from the two elder daughters, who speak with pretentious words, a grass-made crown symbolizing King Lear in the center, and rolling scripts from the youngest daughter, whose unadorned words reflect her tragic fate.

Audience members are invited to stand beneath the grass-made crown, stepping into the role of King Lear and immersing themselves in his mental and emotional turmoil. By participating, the audience becomes an integral part of the installation.

This work encourages viewers to reflect on their inner selves, offering a deeper understanding of their identity and the human condition through engagement with a timeless tragedy.
